At its final meeting of the academic year, the Board of Trustees also toured the new University Terrace housing and honored departing members Chris Hazy and John Gunn.
The Board of Trustees is providing the following update to the Stanford community on its consideration of investment responsibility issues – including an upcoming review of the university's investment responsibility statement and the conclusion of a review of investment issues around private prisons.
The four Area Steering Groups involved in Stanford’s Long-Range Planning process have been hard at work reading and analyzing proposals. Graphics produced by the groups illustrate some of the themes they are seeing; white papers from each of the groups will be made available to the campus community in winter quarter.
Jeffrey S. Raikes, who joined the Stanford University Board of Trustees in June 2012, took the helm as chair in July and will lead his first meeting of the board this fall.
Felix J. Baker, a managing partner of Baker Brothers Investments, and Jerry Yang, co-founder of Yahoo! and founder of AME Cloud Ventures, will join the Stanford University Board of Trustees on October 1.
The June 14-15 meeting of the Stanford University Board of Trustees was the final one as chair for Steven A. Denning, who has presided as chair since July 2012.
During its June meeting, members of the Stanford University Board of Trustees reviewed construction projects, including the new Denning House, approved the university budget and feted outgoing President John Hennessy and his wife, Andrea.
During its April meeting, trustees heard presentations from campus leaders on a variety of issues – economics, arts programs, the Stanford Cyber Initiative, the biomedical revolution in precision health. They also toured the SLAC National Accelerator Laboratory.
