Stanford honors Nona Chiariello and Niraj Dangoria with 2019 Marsh O’Neill Awards

Nona Chiariello, a staff scientist at the Jasper Ridge Biological Preserve, and Niraj Dangoria, associate dean in the Office of Facilities Planning and Management at the School of Medicine, will each receive a 2019 Marsh O’Neill Award for Exceptional and Enduring Support of Stanford University’s Research Enterprise during a Nov. 20 campus reception.

Walter Vincenti, interdisciplinary engineer, dead at 102

Vincenti’s research laid the foundation for many advances in aeronautics, including supersonic flight and spacecraft reentry. He also co-founded the interdisciplinary Stanford Program in Science, Technology and Society.

Karen Cook to step down as vice provost for faculty development and diversity

Karen Cook, vice provost for faculty development and diversity, will step down Sept. 30, and Provost Persis Drell has announced a reorganization creating two new offices: the Vice Provost for Faculty Development, Teaching and Learning, and the Vice Provost for Faculty Diversity and Engagement.
