Student disruptions during campus event on Feb. 23

Stanford continues to preserve and defend free expression on our campus, as we have made clear to our students. However, the First Amendment allows for reasonable time, place, and manner restrictions on when free speech may occur. Actions that violate Stanford’s policy on campus disruptions are subject to discipline. Today, several students (18 confirmed) who disrupted a planned event during Family Weekend were issued citations by Stanford’s Department of Public Safety (DPS), and will be sent for a disciplinary referral with the Office of Community Standards.
