Important reminders regarding stormy weather
Dean of Students Mona Hicks confirms undergraduate residences will re-open Jan. 7 and classes will resume Jan. 9, and shares information about campus conditions.
Dear students,
We are writing this afternoon regarding the storms, including heavy rain and strong winds that are expected to continue through early next week in Northern California. First, we would like to assure everyone that classes are scheduled to begin as planned Jan. 9 for most students, and Jan. 12 for Graduate School of Business students.
Additionally, undergraduate housing is scheduled to re-open this Saturday, Jan. 7, at 8 a.m., as planned, and dining halls will open over the weekend according to the schedule posted on the R&DE Stanford Dining website. Professional staff is available this week and weekend to welcome back students returning from travel.
Expect to see standing bodies of water on campus, including at some athletic fields and Lake Lagunita. It is incredibly important to refrain from entering standing water for your health and safety. Even water that appears safe can contain dangerous debris, bacteria, and deep mud, and is therefore not safe for bathing, drinking, or recreational activities.
Students with weather-related housing concerns such as leaks can contact their R&DE Housing Service Center (check here for more information) or the After-Hours Emergency Maintenance Line at (650) 725-1602.
Stay safe and see you soon.
Sincerely,
Mona Hicks
Senior Associate Vice Provost and Dean of Students
