Spring quarter COVID-19 reminders
Dean of Students Mona Hicks and Vaden Health Services Executive Director Jim Jacobs summarize guidance on travel, testing, isolation, masking and gatherings.
Dear students,
In preparation for an in-person start to spring quarter on March 28, we’re writing today with timely COVID reminders. In this email we will cover:
- What to do if you’re returning to campus after travel
- What to do if you stayed on campus during spring break
- What to do if you test positive during spring quarter
- Where to pick up university-provided rapid antigen tests
- Current masking requirements
- Current student group gatherings and travel guidance
All the information we’re about to share is summarized on this website, which we update regularly. Please bookmark it for future reference!
What to do if you’re returning to campus after traveling
- Before you return to campus, take a rapid test. If you test positive, do not travel! Complete Health Check. Send a copy of your positive test results to the “COVID Medical Care Team” through vadenpatient.stanford.edu. Isolate in place for 10 days. Contact the Financial Aid Office if travel disruptions present a financial hardship.
- After you return to campus, test twice with Color during your first week back, and then continue testing at your assigned cadence thereafter.
- Students who tested positive for COVID in the past 90 days should not test with Color and should instead take a rapid test if they develop symptoms or have been exposed. Here’s more information.
What to do if you stayed on campus during spring break
- Test twice with Color during your first week of classes, and then continue testing at your assigned cadence thereafter.
- Students who tested positive for COVID in the past 90 days should not test with Color and should instead take a rapid test if they develop symptoms or have been exposed. Here’s more information.
What to do if you test positive during spring quarter
- Immediately following a positive COVID-19 test result, all students should:
- Complete Health Check to inform the university.
- Send a copy of their positive COVID test results (attached to a message with the subject line “secure: test results”) to the “Covid Medical Care Team” through vadenpatient.stanford.edu.
- Submit a SNOW ticket to request resources for isolation and meal delivery options.
- Currently, COVID-positive undergraduates who do not live in Mirrielees or EVGR-A should follow the steps detailed here and report to the Quarantine/Isolation Housing Front Desk.
- Students who live in campus housing with private bedrooms and single-occupancy bathrooms should isolate in their assigned housing. Here’s more information for undergraduates and for graduate and professional students.
- This new tier system will streamline future communication about isolation requirements depending on Stanford’s COVID conditions.
Where to pick up university-provided rapid antigen tests
- Students can pick up free rapid tests at the following locations, Monday-Friday:
Arrillaga Family Dining Commons, 8:30 a.m. – 4 p.m.
Arrillaga Outdoor Education and Recreation Center, 9 a.m. – 5 p.m.
EVGR Building B, 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. - You’ll need your Stanford ID and cell phone. Here’s more information on pick up procedures.
- Use these tests when you have symptoms or are a high-risk close contact. Here’s more information on when to use rapid tests.
Current masking requirements
- Masks are required at Vaden Health Center for the foreseeable future and in classrooms through at least the first few weeks of spring quarter.
- Masks remain strongly recommended elsewhere on campus, regardless of vaccination status.
- Here are further details on the university’s masking guidelines.
Current student gatherings guidance
- Registered in-person gatherings and parties hosted by student organizations and residential groups will be permitted beginning April 1 outdoors, and April 8 indoors.
- Our party planning guidelines provide guidance on hosting safe, responsible and fun events in compliance with county law.
- Here are further details on student gatherings and student group travel this spring.
Thank you for continuing to follow campus guidance as the pandemic becomes endemic. Best wishes for a strong start to spring quarter.
Sincerely,
Mona Hicks
