Feigenbaum receives highest civilian honor from Air ForceEdward A. Feigenbaum, the Kumagai Professor of Computer Science, has received the Decoration for Exceptional Civilian Service from the U.S. Air Force. The award, the highest honor given to civilians by the military, was presented to the computer scientist on Aug. 26 for his "exceptionally meritorious service as Chief Scientist for the U.S. Air Force." Feigenbaum has just returned to campus from three years at the Pentagon in that position, in which he helped the Air Force develop a strategic plan for the next 10 to 15 years that takes advantage of current and future advances in informtion and communications technology. -30-
