NEWS RELEASE 12/11/01 Craig Kapitan, News Service (650) 724-5708; ckapitan@stanford.edu Stanford offers admission to 558 Early Decision applicantsApplications for admission submitted through Stanford's Early Decision program increased by 10 percent this year, Robin Mamlet, dean of admission and financial aid, announced Tuesday. The Office of Undergraduate Admission has selected 558 Early Decision applicants for the Class of 2006. The applicants will be notified later this week. The Early Decision program allows high school seniors whose first choice is Stanford to apply and receive an admission decision a few months early. Other applicants are notified in the spring. Early Decision applicants must make a binding commitment to attend Stanford if admitted. The nearly 2,400 Early Decision applicants this year marks the third year in a row the application pool has expanded. -30- By Craig Kapitan |
