Packard security to require badges

Beginning Thursday, all Lucile Packard Children's Hospital employees and physicians will be required to show identification to enter the facility.

Acceptable forms of ID include those issued by Packard Children's Hospital, Stanford Hospital & Clinics (which is not implementing extra security at this time), Stanford School of Medicine, Stanford University Medical Center or Stanford University.

Security officers will be posted at all public entrances to the hospital and at every connection between Stanford Hospital and Packard Children's Hospital to check for ID and to issue special visitor badges to non-employees.

Visitors, who must sign in before receiving a badge, are required to wear their badges at all times within Packard Children's Hospital. These badges will self-expire after one day.

The changes are in response to employee and family requests for enhanced security to ensure the safety of patients, employees and visitors throughout the facility.

Employees without a photo ID can call 498-6290 Monday through Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. to get one. Call security services at 723-7222 with questions regarding the new procedures.
