Thomas Andriacchi, PhD, professor of orthopedic surgery and of mechanical engineering and researchers at the University of Cincinnati received the Orthopaedic Research and Education Foundation Clinical Research Award for "Factors affecting the treatment of anterior cruciate ligament-deficient knees with lower limb malalignment and associated ligamentous instabilities." From the research study, new postoperative protocols were established, allowing immediate protected knee motion and reducing postoperative complications. The award was presented March 10 at the 71st annual meeting of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons in San Francisco.
