Low cholesterol focus of conference

Statins have been grabbing headlines recently, but the news may make decisions about whether to take the cholesterol-lowering drugs even more confusing.

To clear up some of the confusion, John Cooke, MD, PhD, professor of cardiovascular medicine, has gathered prominent cardiologists from across the nation for a half-day conference titled "The Evolving Paradigm for Coronary Artery Disease: The Effects of Statins on Lipid Lowering, Endothelial Function, Thrombosis, and Inflammation."

The conference will be at Fairchild Auditorium at the medical school from 8 a.m. to noon on Saturday.

The conference is open to medical professionals and the public. For additional information or to register, visit http://cvmed.stanford.edu/vascularmedicine/Statins20Brochure.pdf.
