Freischlag
featured in Holman Lecture
The 5th Annual Emile F. Holman Lecture in
Surgery will take place Friday. This year’s talk,
“Bloom Where You’re Planted,” will feature Julie
A. Freischlag, MD, the William Stewart Halsted Professor at Johns
Hopkins University School of Medicine.
The lecture series was established in 2000 by Thomas Krummel, MD,
the Emile F. Holman Professor, in memory of Emile Holman, MD, the
founding chair of the Department of Surgery at Stanford.
Each year, a speaker is invited to present topics that reflect the
activities and values of the department. Freischlag, who is also
the chair of surgery and the surgeon-in-chief at Hopkins, will
discuss how surgeons can make the best of their careers starting at
this moment.
A reception will be held at 3:30 p.m. in the area outside the
Packard Hospital auditorium, followed by Freischlag’s talk at
4 p.m. The lecture is free and open to the public. For more
information, call Joan Whitesel at 498-7387.
