Minority
training explored in SUMMA conference
The Stanford University Minority Medical
Alliance, or SUMMA, will hold its 13th annual pre-medical
conference at the School of Medicine on Saturday.
The daylong event is traditionally the West Coast’s largest
gathering of underrepresented minority pre-medical students and
others interested in pursuing a career in medicine or related
health-care fields.
The conference will feature numerous speakers along with a wide
range of workshops designed to assist prospective students with
everything from filling out medical school applications, becoming
better candidates, preparing for MCATS and other tests,
investigating research opportunities and much more.
Talks and workshops will take place at various locations throughout
the medical school, but breakfast and registration check-in will
begin at 7 a.m. in the Clark Center courtyard.
Registration has reached capacity and is closed for college and
high school participants, but advisors and recruiters are still
welcome to register. No walk-ins will be accepted. To register,
contact Eddie Lares at elares@stanford.edu before
Saturday.
