Innovation
is focus of biodesign talk
The Stanford Biodesign Innovation Program will
host an evening with John Abele, founder and chairman of Boston
Scientific, on Feb. 2.
Abele will discuss his journey from a physics and philosophy major
in college to the head of the world’s largest medical device
company dedicated to developing less-invasive therapies. His
company’s products treat a range of conditions that have the
common goal of reducing risk, cost and recovery time for patients,
particularly in cardiac cases.
The Biodesign Innovation Program focuses on the early development
of new biomedical technologies. Through hands-on experience and
interaction with industry leaders, the program helps participants
identify clinical needs, market potential products and take the
first steps in the invention, patenting and development of new
biomedical technologies.
Abele will speak at 5:30 in the California Vintage Room of the
Stanford Barn at 700 Welch Rd, followed by a reception. The
registration fee is $45; $35 for Stanford alumni and free for
Stanford faculty, staff and students with proof of status. Register
at http://acteva.com/booking.cfm?bevaid=60619.
