Lane unveils new "TECH Desk"

The "TECH Desk" walk-in consulting service at Lane Medical Library has recently opened to provide computing, networking, multimedia and instructional technology assistance to library users.

The pilot program, developed in conjunction with Information Resources & Technology, stands for Technology Expert Consultation Hours and is supported by staff from several IRT divisions. The service is free and available to all faculty, students and staff at the medical school.

Users of the TECH desk can expect help on everything from installing and registering a wireless card, optimizing an image in PhotoShop, setting up "virtual file cabinets" for PDF files in EndNote, making sure a laptop is secure and more.

TECH Desk hours are Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays, noon to 1 p.m. and 4 to 6 p.m.
