Center combines donation sites

The Stanford Blood Center has combined its whole blood and automated blood collection (also known as apheresis) areas into one space.

The new consolidated location is 780 Welch Road, Suite 100. The donor room at 800 Welch Road will be used to expand their laboratories.

Administrative offices will remain at 800 Welch Road.

The blood center is planning a more ambitious move into a new location better suited for blood banking early next year.

In the meantime, with the addition of several new tests to improve the safety of the blood supply, the center’s laboratories need more space for equipment.

“Our goal is to accomplish this without compromising service to donors or blood availability,” said Vince Yalon, administrator of the blood center. “As always, we will not be able to meet growing patient needs without the contribution of our most consistent asset, our blood donors. We ask for their patience and flexibility as we make this transition.”

Eligible donors are urged to make an appointment. For more information, including updated maps and hours, or to schedule an appointment, visit http://bloodcenter.stanford.edu or call (888) 723-7831.
