Nominations sought for new community partnership award

The Office of Public Affairs has announced the creation of an annual awards program, the Community Partnership Awards, to recognize individuals and programs that have formed successful community partnerships between Stanford and its neighbors.

"When I came to Stanford I soon learned that there were many of these programs in place," said Gordon Earle, vice president for public affairs, in announcing the program. "The purpose of these awards is to honor individuals whose work strongly benefits the local community and to increase awareness of these important collaborations."

The awards will select individuals and organizations that have initiated, led or made contributions to projects that have resulted in collaboration and better understanding between Stanford and its neighbors and that serve the community at large. Each winning program will be presented a $1,000 award at a luncheon hosted by the Garden Court Hotel in Palo Alto on March 31. The event will be in conjunction with Stanford's Community Day on April 4.

Members of the public are encouraged to submit nominations. Please submit names of individuals or organizations (if applicable), along with a short description of how nominees fit the award criteria. Award winners will be chosen from nearby communities and Stanford. Nominations should be sent to Matthew Bahls, Building 170, Stanford, CA 94305-2040, or to mbahls@stanford.edu by Feb. 13.
