Professor Stephen Schneider discusses
probability and climate change at AAAS meeting in Seattle
When it comes to global climate change, the vast
majority of experts have reached a consensus: The atmosphere is
getting warmer because human beings continue burning vast amounts
of oil and other fossil fuels. Nevertheless, a small minority of
researchers continue to question whether people are the primary
culprits. At the 2004 annual meeting of the American Association
for the Advancement of Science, Stephen H. Schneider, professor of
biological sciences and senior fellow with the Stanford Institute
for International Studies, explained why policymakers should heed
the consensus of the scientific community.
