Israeli novelist to speak on anti-semitism

Avraham B. Yehoshua, a leading Israeli novelist and playwright, will deliver a lecture April 15 titled "An Attempt to Explore the Root of Antisemitism." The 8 p.m. talk, which is free and open to the public, is scheduled to take place in Kresge Auditorium. Yehoshua, a professor emeritus at Haifa University, has received several literary honors and is one of Israel's best internationally known writers. The New York Times has described Yehoshua as "a kind of Israeli Faulkner," a novelist with a gift for capturing the mood of contemporary Israel. The Village Voice has written, "Yehoshua's stories find their way right into the unconsciousness. ... Nobel prizes have been given for less." Yehoshua's ninth and latest novel is The Liberated Bride. The lecture is presented by the Jewish Community Endowment Fund.
