Honors and Awards RICHARD DASHER, executive director of the Center for Integrated Systems and director of the U.S.-Asia Technology Management Center, was selected to serve on the eight-member board of trustees of Tohoku University in Japan. This month Japan's national universities became independent administrative institutions, a change allowing foreign nationals to become involved in management. Prior restrictions prevented the appointment of non-Japanese to positions of department chair or higher. Dasher, an associate professor (consulting) in the Department of Electrical Engineering at Stanford, becomes Tohoku's first foreign official, and one of the first two foreign university officials in Japan. |
