researcher Lexie Nall dies
Researcher Lexie Nall, PhD, died Feb. 23 in Palo Alto. Nall
began working at Stanford in 1968 as an epidemiologist in the
Department of Dermatology, where she established the epidemiology
laboratory.
For more than 35 years Nall studied the genetics and epidemiology
of skin diseases, including psoriasis and epidermolysis bullosa.
She was working on an epidemiological study of melanoma at Stanford
at the time of her death.
She was co-author or co-editor of eight books including Skin
Diseases in the Elderly, currently in press.
She received a graduate degree in anthropology in 1966 from
Stanford and worked on archiving archeological specimens at the
Leland Stanford, Jr., Museum. She also completed coursework at
Stanford for her PhD, which she received in 1981 from Pacific
Western University.
Nall was active in patient-support organizations such as the
Dystrophic Epidermolysis Bullosa Research Association, or DebRA.
